The best concert

In March 2012 I went to the most amazing concert ever: “The Wall Live”. It was an amazing show from the homonymous album sung by Roger Waters, formerly of the English band Pink Floyd.

GREAT SHOW

I went with my neighbor Ignacio, friend of my older brothers Francisca and Andrés, so it was funny because he is the oldest of the Elzo brothers and I am the youngest of the Villalobos family. We were very excited by the show in the Estadio Nacional in Ñuñoa.

And the show didn’t disappoint us. The esthetic was the same as the movie (The Wall, directed by Allan Parker in 1982), so somehow you were part of that crazy and warlike atmosphere. I felt immersed in that fascination of music and spectacle.

Even though Roger Waterswas on his own, it was really great. This year it is David Gilmour’s turn, and I’m really excited. I hope someday I could see the whole band together (with the drummer Nick Mason. Keyboardist Richard Wright RIP), but I don’t think that is going to happen.

What I'm going to do?

Thinking about what I’m going to do after graduating  somehow is  a mix of anxiety and excitement. I really don’t know what I’m going to do afterwards, and that makes me nervous. At the same time I think “I’m only 23”, so my plan is to continue studying.

But study what? That’s the question that makes me more anxious. I like music, movies, animals, a lot of things, and after my professional practice I discovered what I don’t like: press. So I have to study something else where I can mix journalism with something I really like. Up to now I’m thinking of making a diplomat or something similar for a couple of years and learn more about cinema, so I can make “audiovisual journalism”.

I would like to study in another country, and I think I can apply for a scholarship to finance it. That is one of my dreams and I think that with my grades and searching a lot in internet, it is possible. One of my options is the International University for Film and Television in San Antonio de losBaños, Cuba.

I would like to be like Francis Ford Coppola

There are many journalists in Chile, so I’m convinced that I have to study more to make a difference, and not be just “one of the bunch”.

The country I would like to visit

I wish someday in my life I could go to the Independent State of Papua New Guinea.  This half island (it shares the land of New Guinea with Indonesia) is the unknown neighbor of Australia, New Zealand and the same Indonesia. 

It is one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world with more than a thousand different cultural groups, a strong ancient tradition and 848 languages. Most of the Papuan people still live in villages, where only the 18 per cent of its population do it in urban places and even though the planet has been studied almost completely, Papua New Guinea is one of the world's least explored countries, culturally and geographically.

Most of Papuan society rely on subsistence farming, do not dress with jeans, live with less than a dollar per day and a large proportion of population is illiterate. That’s why I think this half of New Guinea it is not tourists’ favorite destiny, even though it's beautiful beaches.

In few words, Papua New Guinea is a primitive place for occidental people like us. I wish I could go someday, I’m really not a brave person so this would be a challenge for me: to discover and survive in one of the most extraordinary countries of the world.

I wish to dive at Milne Bay (in the picture), Kitava or Doini Island!

Papua New Guinea is divided in 22 province-level divisions, I hope to stay a long time there for knowing almost every place (I'm dreaming), but Oro, Morobe, Madong province and Port Moresby in the National Capital District are my top destinations.
